Some overdrives are designed to completely reshape your tone. The KUDU takes a different approach - it is built to make everything already on your pedalboard sound better.

Designed by Dan Coggins in collaboration with ThorpyFX, the KUDU is a highly dynamic mid-gain overdrive built specifically for stacking with amps and other drive pedals. Inspired by a heavily modified classic circuit originally gifted to Thorpy by Coggins himself, the KUDU evolved into a pedal focused on enhancement, harmonic richness, and feel rather than simply adding more gain.

On its own, the KUDU delivers articulate low-to-mid gain overdrive tones with excellent touch sensitivity and note separation. But where it truly shines is when used as a “more better” pedal - pushing tube amps harder, tightening other drives, adding harmonics, and giving your entire rig more dimension and clarity without masking your core sound.

A major part of the KUDU’s versatility comes from its three-position clipping switch, offering multiple gain textures and responses ranging from softer compression to more aggressive punch and a smooth, germanium-like feel. Combined with the highly interactive Tone/Bite control, the pedal can move from open edge-of-breakup textures to thick sustaining drive while remaining exceptionally musical.

As expected from ThorpyFX, the KUDU is built to an extremely high standard using premium components including WIMA and Panasonic capacitors, 1% metal film resistors, and gold-plated through-hole PCBs for ultra-low noise and long-term reliability.
