The Schaffer Replica BASS-X brings the legendary Schaffer-Vega Diversity System sound into a compact pedal format, voiced specifically for bass players. Based on the analogue optical limiter, “Goalpost” EQ, harmonic clipping, boost and line buffer circuit reverse-engineered from the original SVDS wireless unit, the BASS-X is designed to deliver the percussive attack, low-mid growl and singing sustain heard on some of the most iconic live bass tones of the 1970s and 1980s.

Rather than acting like a standard bass overdrive, the BASS-X works as a complete front-end tone enhancer. The Gain control shapes the harmonic clipping circuit while lifting the crucial low-mid frequencies that help bass sit forward in the mix without losing body or definition. It can add anything from subtle thickness and presence to a more driven, aggressive response depending on how hard you push it.

The Boost control provides up to 31dB of clean analogue boost, making it perfect for balancing your output after dialling in the right amount of gain. It can also be used to push an amp, preamp or DI chain harder, giving your bass more authority and presence on stage or in the studio.

The Limiter control adjusts the signal amplitude threshold, helping control peaks while retaining the natural feel of the instrument. This allows you to fine-tune the response for different pickups and playing styles - from open and dynamic to tighter, punchier and more percussive.
