Empress Effects | DRIVE | Tube-Like Overdrive w/ Noise Gate & Advanced Tone Control

The Empress Drive is not just another overdrive pedal - it is a fully adjustable gain platform built for players who want to shape how their drive reacts, feels, and cuts through a mix. Rather than locking you into one fixed clipping character, it gives you detailed control over the harmonic structure and gain behaviour, letting you move from subtle edge-of-breakup tones through to thick, aggressive saturation with ease.

At the core of the Empress Drive is a rich, amp-like all-analogue clipping circuit paired with an exceptionally thoughtful control layout. A sweepable midrange EQ sits before the overdrive stage, allowing you to choose which frequencies hit the circuit harder. This has a major impact on the response and feel of the pedal, making it possible to dial in tight, articulate drive sounds or push it into looser, more textured tones with a fuzz-like character.

The boost section is equally flexible, offering up to +30dB of gain and switchable placement before or after the drive stage. Used before the overdrive, it increases saturation and changes the feel under the fingers. Used after the overdrive, it works as a powerful volume lift for solos or pushes the front end of your amp with authority. A clean mix control lets you blend your unaffected signal back in, helping preserve pick attack, note clarity, and low-end definition.

To fine-tune the final output, the Empress Drive also includes active bass and treble shelving EQ after the mix stage, giving you precise tonal control without compromising balance. An adaptive noise gate keeps higher gain settings tight and controlled while still allowing sustain and touch sensitivity to come through naturally. Add in the clipping meter, high-headroom design, and buffered bypass, and the result is a compact all-in-one gain station that covers far more ground than a typical overdrive pedal.

Whether you want to turn a clean amp into something raw and vintage-inspired, stack gain with intention, or build a more refined and articulate drive sound, the Empress Drive gives you the tools to do it properly.

  • All-analogue gain architecture for rich, tube-like overdrive with natural compression and dynamic response

  • Sweepable pre-overdrive mid EQ to control which frequencies push the circuit into saturation

  • Flexible boost section with up to +30dB of gain

  • Boost can be placed before or after the overdrive stage

  • Clean mix control to retain clarity, articulation, and low-end definition

  • Active bass and treble shelving EQ for precise post-drive tone shaping

  • Adaptive noise gate that reduces hum while preserving sustain and playing dynamics

  • Analogue clipping meter for visual gain staging feedback

  • High-headroom design for strong signal handling without unwanted clipping

  • Buffered bypass for consistent signal integrity across long cable runs and complex pedalboards

  • Compact enclosure with top-mounted jacks for easy pedalboard integration

  • Approximate dimensions - 2.5” x 4.8” x 2.6”
